Coronavirus Concerns Not Affecting Election Filing Deadlines
(Spirit Lake)-- Concern over the coronavirus is not having an impact on the deadline to file nomination papers. That word from Jordan Moyer of the Dickinson County Auditor's Office...
"With the county level offices which are partisan for the June Primary, the end date is still Wednesday, March 25th, 2020 at 5:00 pm. And the county level offices for non-party, which would be townships, hospital trustees, and soil and water conservation board for the November General is still March 20th with an end date of 5:00 pm. And additionally area city budgets are due in the office by the end of the day March 31st. Area school budgets are due by the end of the day April 15th of 2020. So what we want you to do is call our office in advance to make arrangements to drop off that paperwork and/or budgets. Our Auditor's Office phone number is 712-336-3356 or you can also call us at 712-330-7438."
Moyer says the paperwork can also be delivered to the courthouse in another way...
"And we have a drop box for that so you are able to call our office and say we have dropped it in the drop box, and then if you want to come back at a later date to get the filing receipt, then we can also get that to you, and I can fill that out and scan that to you as well so you have that on record that you have filed your paperwork in the correct time."
Moyer says none of that paperwork can be sent electronically due to the signatures that are required.
***On a related note, the Department of Management has extended the deadline for cities and counties to submit budgets to April 30th, 2020.***
