Collision Of Two Semis Results In No Injuries But Considerable Amount Of Property Damage
(Sibley)-- No injuries were reported but there was a considerable amount of property damage in a collision Thursday of two semis on Highway 60 in Osceola county.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says 39-year-old John Wheeler of Chicago was driving a 2014 Freightliner southbound, south of Exit 48, and 50-year-old Keith Nebelsick of Spirit Lake was driving a 2000 Peterbilt, also southbound. Authorities say Wheeler failed to see the Peterbilt in the right lane that was moving slower because he had just pulled onto the highway and was still accelerating. They say the Freightliner then rear-ended a trailer pulled by the Peterbilt.
Damage to the Freightliner was estimated at $20,000; damage to the trailer pulled by the other semi was estimated at $35,000.
Authorities say Wheeler was cited for following too closely.
The Sibley ambulance and Sibley Fire Department assisted on the scene.
The collision took place shortly before 7:30 am.
