(Spencer)-- Minor injuries were reported Friday when a pickup collided with a cement truck on Highway 71 about four miles south of Spencer.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 17-year-old Chance Noll of Spencer was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram and was exiting a private driveway when he pulled into the path of a 2018 Freightliner cement truck driven by 31-year-old Tanner Ladwig of Spencer, who was southbound on the highway. The vehicle driven by Noll rolled onto its driver's side; the cement truck rolled in the west ditch, coming to rest on its driver's side.

Ladwig was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital; Noll was taken by a private vehicle.

Both the pickup and cement truck were totaled.

Noll was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway.

The highway was shut down in that area for several hours while crews cleaned up the wreckage.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Spencer Police Department, Spencer Ambulance, the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Royal Fire Department.

The collision took place around 7:50 am.
