Clay County Traffic Stop Results In Arrests

(Spencer)-- A traffic stop early this (Thurs.) morning in the 4700 mile of Highway 71 in Clay county sent two people to jail. The Clay County Sheriff's Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle for an alleged traffic violation. Upon investigating it was determined the driver, 25-year-old Cody Kirchner of Auburn, Iowa had allegedly been driving with a suspended license.

A further investigation utilizing the Spencer Police Department's K-9 Unit resulted in authorities finding what's alleged to be drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine in the vehicle. A passenger, 56-year-old William Bell of Yetter, Iowa, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance methamphetamine.

Both Kirchner and Bell were booked into the Clay county jail pending an initial court appearance.
