Clay County Traffic Stop Arrests

(Spencer)-- Two people face charges in connection with a traffic stop in Clay county.

The Sheriff's Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle for an alleged traffic violation and discovered the driver, 29-year-old Jessie Martin of Graettinger, had a revoked driver's license and that there was a valid protection order between him and a passenger, 30-year-old Crystal Lopez of Estherville. Both Martin and Lopez were arrested.

A further investigation resulted in authorities finding what's alleged to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Martin was booked into jail on charges of driving while revoked, possession of a controlled substance...marijuana, failure to display a registration plate, no insurance, failure to file S.R. Insurance, violation of a protection order and possession of drug paraphernalia. Martin was being held without bond.

Lopez was charged with possession of a controlled substance...marijuana, violation of a protection order and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released after posting a $300 bond.
