Clay County Sheriff's Office Says Deputy Was Forced To Shoot Dog Out Of Self-Defense
(Spencer)-- The Clay County Sheriff's Office says a deputy shot a dog out of self-defense after the dog lunged and bit him.
Authorities say it happened back on August 3rd when a deputy was called to a residence near Webb to investigate a civil complaint. The Sheriff's Office says while the deputy was there, a bull mastiff dog lunged at the deputy and bit him on the leg. Authorities say the deputy then fired his gun at the dog. The dog was transported by it's owner to a veterinarian, where it died.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office says no charges have been filed in the incident.
