Clay County Fair Attendance Tops 330,000
(Spencer)-- Attendance at the 2015 Clay County Fair topped 330,000 this year for only the second time in the fair's history. According to numbers released Monday, 330,045 people attended the nine-day fair this year, which concluded Sunday.
Fair officials say two single-day attendance records were set this past weekend with 65,468 on Saturday and 30,931 on Sunday.
The fair's midway also posted some good numbers. Fair officials say Goldstar Amusements set a record for gross sales at the fair for the fifth consecutive year, along with an all-time single-day record for sales this past Saturday, September 19th.
Fair officials attribute the numbers to good weather. Other than Friday's rain, the weather was ideal for this year's run of the fair. Friday's conditions forced the cancellation of the World of Outlaws Show. Even then, fair officials say 25,295 people attended events at the grandstand, including a sell-out crowd for Little Big Town. Officials say it was the first sellout at the Clay County Fair since Alan Jackson in 2011.
