Chain Reaction Collision Sends Two People To The Hospital
(Sanborn)-- A chain reaction collision Tuesday in a construction zone on Highway 18 near Sanborn sent two people to the hospital. Authorities say the vehicles had stopped to wait for a pilot car.
The O'Brien County Sheriff's Office says a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Chelsey Zearing of Sanborn came upon the scene and collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Taryn Godbersen of Sanborn. The impact forced Godbersen's vehicle into the rear of a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Stephanie Paden of Hampton.
Paden and a passenger in her vehicle, 47-year-old Tammy Arends of Hampton, were taken by ambulance to the Sheldon hospital. Zearing was checked over on the scene by paramedics and was released.
Damage to a 2013 Chevrolet driven by Zearing was estimated at $7,000; a 2014 Ford driven by Godbersen was estimated at $4,000; and a 2005 Chevrolet driven by Paden was estimated at $1,500.
Zearing was cited for failure to maintain control.
The collision took place shortly after 4:30 pm.
