(Spencer)-The Clay County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CCCVB) Committee has announced that grant applications are currently being accepted for the newly revised Clay County Tourism Grant.

With the support of the City of Spencer and Clay County, the CCCVB Tourism Grant will provide funding for those planning an event to be held in Clay County.

These funds are accessible to any business, organization, governmental entity or individual, and eligible events include festivals, performances, sporting events/tournaments or exhibits that occur within Clay County and are designed to attract participants from both within and outside of Clay County. Ideally, the event will reinforce Clay County as a tourist destination, and will serve a large segment of the population or contribute to the quality of life for those who attend.

There is currently $40,000 that may be awarded annually. This will be done through two application rounds, with $20,000 available for each round of funding.

Applications for the first round must be submitted no later than 4:00 PM on February 15th, 2017. Award notifications will be made in writing no later than March 1, 2017. This will be an exception to the normal grant cycle. In subsequent years, the deadline will be February 1st . This change is being made to allow applicants more time to prepare submissions under the new grant process.

Applications for the second round must be submitted no later than 4:00 PM on August 1st, 2017. These award notifications will be made September 1, 2017. A typical award will be between $500 and $5,000.
