CARES Carnival April 22 to raise funds for CAASA and FCC
Fri 4-14-2017 Spirit Lake,IA
(Spirit Lake)-A fundraiser is on tap with the CARES Carnival in Spirit Lake on April 22. KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The CARES Carnival will be held on Saturday April 22 in an effort to raise funds for CAASA and FCC. Organizer Sheila Ove says CARES is a fairly new organization. "Dickinson County CARES is a relatively new group of volunteer people that have come together. CARES stands for Community Advocates Ready to Empower Survivors, and that is, survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, those victims that CAASA and FCC serve. The great thing is, the fundraising at this Carnival, the money will all go to CAASA and FCC, and that money will aid victims here in our county."
She notes that the organization is accepting silent auction items, and seeking volunteers to help with the event. "We're going to need approximately 100 volunteers to run this properly. We are having 2 Volunteer Nights, Thursday night from 6-8 and Friday night from 6-8. Anybody that wants to volunteer can come in and we'll get to know them, and try to find a spot for them."
The CARES Carnival will run from 11-3 at the Dickinson County Expo Center in Spirit Lake on April 22.
Volunteer nights: Thursday and Friday 6-8 pm at Dickinson County Expo Building.
Carnival: 11-3 Saturday, April 22 at the Expo.
Free admission, crafts, clowns, face painting, inflatables, Fireman's Dunk, Carnival Food and Fare for You Food Truck.
Silent auction items are still being accepted.
