Car Vs Pedestrian Collision Seriously Injures Woman

(Okoboji)-- A woman was seriously injured Tuesday evening after being struck by a car on County Home Road in front of Pride Group of Okoboji.

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office says the victim, 26-year-old Marcia Hayes, a resident of Pride Group, sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. She was then transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital.

Authorities say a pizza delivery vehicle driven by 25-year-old Amanda Howard of Spirit Lake collided with Hayes. Deputies say Hayes was wearing dark clothing and couldn't be seen by Howard, who wasn't injured.

About $5,000 in damage was estimated to a 2011 Ford Fiesta Howard was driving.

The incident took place shortly after 9:30 p.m.

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Okoboji and Spirit Lake Police Departments, Lakes Regional Healthcare and paramedics and Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire and Rescue.
