(Sheldon)-- A Sheldon woman sustained minor injuries Sunday evening when a vehicle she was driving collided with bridge guard rail and went into a ditch.
The Sioux County Sheriff's Office says 35-year-old Shannon Maasdam was driving a 2010 Ford Focus southbound on a county road south of Sheldon when she lost control of the vehicle.
Maasdam reported minor injuries but declined further medical attention.
About $10,000 in damage was estimated to the vehicle; damage to the bridge was put at about $2,000.
Upon further investigation it was determined Maasdam was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to maintain control.
The collision took place shortly after 6:00 pm.
The Sioux County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the O'Brien County Sheriff's Office and the Sheldon Police Department.
