Broken Sewer Force Main In Quimby Results In Ongoing Discharge Of Waste Water Into Little Sioux River
(Quimby)-- A broken sanitary sewer force main in Quimby is resulting in an ongoing discharge of wastewater into the Little Sioux River in Cherokee county.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources' Spencer field office says the break was reported around 10:30 am this (Monday) morning. The city's wastewater operator said flooding on the Little Sioux River is preventing workers from locating and fixing the break.
The DNR estimates about 15,000 to 20,000 gallons of untreated wastewater is getting into the river each day.
