Fri 3-20-2020

(Grimes)-- Officials with Black Hills Energy say they're implementing some special precautions in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The utility is temporarily suspending nonpayment disconnections for customers facing financial hardships.

The company is also asking customers who have had a fever or dry cough to postpone non-emergency service calls for 48 hours, adding crews will continue to respond to emergency calls wearing personal protective equipment.

All customer walk-in locations for Black Hills Energy have also been closed temporarily, and employee travel is being limited to mission critical purposes. A work from home policy has been implemented for employees who are able to do so and paid leave is being provided for employees who test positive or are put under quarantine.

The company has also postponed on-site meetings with consultants and gatherings of over 10 people.
