Bird Flu Outbreak Continues

(Des Moines)-- Seven more probable cases of bird flu were reported Friday in Iowa. Commercial poultry farms in Wright, Osceola and Cherokee counties and turkey facilities in Buena Vista, Cherokee, Palo Alto and Sac counties are the latest to be affected.

Officials say the new cases, once confirmed, are in addition to 37 cases of Avian Influenza already confirmed in Iowa.

In Wright county, probable cases were reported at two operation with a total of some four million chickens; probable cases were reported at two more turkey operations in Buena Vista county, with one of those containing an estimated 42,000 birds. Estimates of birds affected at the other sites weren't immediately available.
