Authorities Say There Will Be Extra Security At ELC Prom Following Safety Concern
(Estherville)-- School officials say there will be additional security on hand at Saturday's (4/13) Estherville-Lincoln Central prom after receiving and investigating a safety concern related to the event.
In a statement released this (Fri.) evening, ELC Superintendent Tara Paul says school officials, the Estherville Police Department and Emmet County Sheriff's Office were made aware of the concern late this (Fri.) afternoon. Paul says the matter was investigated and the subject of the investigation will not be present at the prom or any of the events related to it.
Paul adds there will be additional law enforcement present at the Grand March, the dance and all post prom activities.
Paul urges parents to speak to their son/daughter about being vigilant and aware of their surroundings and if they are uncomfortable at any time to report their concern to law enforcement or school administration and/or leave the event.
