Mutel says she'll speak about some of Iowa's issues and challenges:

Author Connie Mutel to speak at Lakeside Lab Science Seminar May 22

"I think Iowa has enormous challenges and also enormous possibilities.  We know that water pollution, for example, is among the worst in the Nation right now.  That's a huge, huge challenge.  But, since the landscape was transformed so rapidly and completely, we have the ability to take that water back to something that is a point of pride rather than a point of making people sick and making The Gulf of Mexico sick, and to be a leader to others, and that's what I hope we will accept for our future.  I guess my ultimate vision is a natural world in harmony with human health and with human life."

The Lakeside Science Seminar will begin at 7 pm Tuesday evening at Mahan Hall on the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory Campus and is free and open to the public.

The Science Seminar series is held each Tuesday evening throughout the summer.
