(Arnolds Park)-It's the annual Pancake Fundraiser at Arnolds Park Fire Station this weekend, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:

Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire & Rescue 42nd Annual Pancake Fundraiser May 3 & 4

Arnolds Park/Okoboji Fire & Rescue will hold their 42nd Annual Pancake Fundraiser on Friday and Saturday.

Fire Chief Chris Yungbluth says the event is a tradition on Walleye Weekend.  "It started in Arnolds Park and we carried the tradition on when we joined the two city departments together because it is such a great event, it's a great fundraiser for our department and it is on a great weekend.  I mean, the opener weekend and lots of people coming to open their cabins and we just want to give them an opportunity to come out and support a couple of good organizations.  The Milford Boy Scouts also benefit from this, they make the pancakes for us and then we grill up the sausage and it's all you can eat.  You can't beat the price for $5, so it's a win-win all around."

He adds that proceeds from the event will help the department acquire important equipment.  "We're looking at purchasing 14 new breathing apparatus, and that replaces the 14 that we have in existence. They have a shelf-life like anything does, and this is the last year that we'll be able to use the tanks, so that means they've been around for 20 years and it's time to upgrade and time to get the newest safety equipment that makes sure to protect those folks that leave their homes, leave their families to come and help protect you from fire."

The Fundraiser will run from 5-8 Friday evening and Saturday morning from 7 to noon at the Arnolds Park Fire Station.
