Arnolds Park City Council Approves Increase In Parking Fines

Thu 7-11-2019

(Arnolds Park)-- Parking fines are going up in Arnolds Park. The City Council Wednesday adopted an ordinance revision increasing the fines from $15 currently to $25. On a related matter, the council also adopted an ordinance revision banning parking on the grass in city parks where signed.

In other business, the council took no action on awarding a bid for water main improvements on Minnewashta Beach Road. Only one bid was received on the project and it was 26 percent above the engineer's estimate. The council directed the engineer to negotiate with the company that submitted the bid to see if it could be reduced.

The council decided to re-bid another project that also came in well above the engineer's estimate. It was for storm sewer and public access improvements along 232nd Avenue. Only one bid was received on that project as well.

The council tabled action on a proposal to extend city water service to developers who want to put in a campground with 150 sites just east of the current city limits; and they took no action on a request to extend the hours in which ATV's and snowmobiles are allowed to operate in the city of Arnolds Park. They are currently limited to operation on city streets during daylight hours only. The request is to allow them to be operated after dark as well.

On another matter, councilman Jason Christensen who also serves on the city's Parks Board, informed the council of plans to construct a pickle ball court at Sawmill Park.
