Archer Man Pleads Not Guilty To Kidnapping And Domestic Abuse Assault Charges

Tue 7-2-2019

(Primghar)-- An Archer man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend has pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and domestic abuse assault.

Authorities say 37-year-old Justin Michael Banta of Archer was charged in early May with third-degree kidnapping... first-offense domestic abuse assault... and driving while suspended.

The O'Brien County Sheriff's Office says deputies were notified of a woman who had been taken against her will near a park in Hartley. Authorities say the male suspect forced the woman into his car, and then took off at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle was located about two hours later by an state patrol trooper who pulled it over and recovered the woman.

Authorities determined the alleged abductor and the woman had recently been in a relationship and had broken up.

Banta entered his plea in O'Brien County District Court Monday. No trial date has been set.
