(Spencer)-Applications are now being accepted for the Clay County Fair Queen Contest. KUOO's Becky Thoreson has the story:
The search is underway for candidates to compete for the title of Clay County Fair Queen.
Fair CEO Jeremy Parsons explains. "The Clay County Fair Queen is part of the larger Iowa State Fair Queen Pageant, so we're looking for talented, young ladies between the ages of 16 and 21 who would just be great ambassadors and representatives of the Clay County Fair, both at the 9 day event in Spencer, and prior to that, at the Iowa State Fair Queen Competition."
He adds that candidates should apply online. "Just go to our website, you can download a very simple one page application and get that sent in to us. Just some information we want to know about you, why do you want to be the Fair Queen, and some basic contact information, and once that's completed, then you'll receive additional information. The competition day, on Sunday, May 3, obviously concludes with the crowning that night, but during the day includes workshops, educational opportunities, community service projects, all sorts of things before the crowning that night."
Applications should be submitted by April 13.
