Another Walleye Weekend Has Gone In The Books

Mon 5-6-2019

(Arnolds Park)-- Walleye Weekend is history for another year. Kylie Zankowski of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce says the weekend was another success with 17 different states represented...Walleye Weekend Wrap01

"The weather was wonderful which always brings more people to the area. We were just shy of that record number so we had just under 2200 people come to the area and compete in the tournament which is awesome. It's just great to see all those people come to the area and get to enjoy the Iowa Great Lakes."

No one caught one of the 10 specially tagged walleyes, giving those in the extended contest an opportunity to land some big money...Walleye Weekend Wrap02

"Those ten tagged walleye are still up for grabs so all of those who signed up for the extended contest still get the chance to catch one of those tagged walleyes until August 31st."

Zankowski also thanks everyone who made the weekend a success...Walleye Weekend Wrap03

"We had a great group of volunteers this year, as always. And of course thank you to our bait shops and all of our sponsors. Without them this event would not be possible."

Over $3,500 in prizes were awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in various categories in the tournament.
