Another Reminder Of Tuesday's (June 2nd) Primary Elections In Iowa
(Spirit Lake)-- A reminder of Tuesday's Primary Elections that will be taking place throughout the state of Iowa. Polls will be open from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm. Due to the COVID-19 situation, there will be just one polling site for Dickinson county. It will be at 909 19th Street, the former Paul's Body Shop just south of the courthouse in Spirit Lake.
There's one race in Dickinson county we will be closely following. It's for the Republican nomination for the 5th District seat on the Board of Supervisors. Jeff Thee and Jan Bowles are running. Whoever wins will square off against Angela Kofoot in the November General Election. She was the only Democrat to file. Incumbent Pam Jordan isn't seeking re-election.
In O'Brien county, Brenda Collier and Bruce Devereaux are seeking the Republican nomination for Sheriff.
In Pocahontas county, Dean Eckstrand and Nathan Hall are seeking the Republican nomination for the 5th district seat on the Board of Supervisors and Josh Hammen and Steven Nelson are seeking the Republican nomination for Sheriff.
In Lyon county, Cory Altena, Matthew Christians and Robert Gruis are seeking the Republican nomination for the district 3 seat on the Board of Supervisors and for the Republican nomination for Sheriff, Steve Michael is running against incumbent Stewart Vanderstoep.
In Cherokee county, Don Drefke and Bryan Peterson are running for the Republican nomination for the District 2 seat on the Board of Supervisors and three Republicans are running against each other for the party's nomination for Sheriff including Michael McDonald, Steve Schuck and Derek Scott.
And a race for State Representative for District 3 has three Republicans running against each other. They include Dennis Bush, Lynn Evans and Mark McHugh.
