Abben Golf Classic To Still Be Held This Year But With Some Changes
(Arnolds Park)-- The Abben Golf Classic is still on for this year at Emerald Hills Golf Course in Arnolds Park, but Susan Zulk, an Abben Cancer Center representative, says there will be some changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic...
"Usually this event is each year the last Sunday in August at beautiful Emerald Hills Golf Club. This year we're still having the Abben Golf Classic however our participants can call Emerald Hills and talk with Randy and his staff and set their tee time that works best for their foursome. This allows our participants to have optimal social distancing, you know, rather than crowding the clubhouse on that one day event. They will still get the same sort of gifts and kind of some gift certificates and different things that we do, and they'll still be eligible for flight prizes as well."
In addition Zulk says businesses can still sign up as sponsors...
"We do have a really active golf committee that are out their contacting some of the sponsors as well. And with our sponsorship levels, you know, they've always got some nice publicity through the Abben Golf Classic for their contributions and level of sponsorship and we're looking at continuing that, so we are going to be publicizing that through social media and our hole sponsors, rather than having their signs on a hole, they will be able to have their sign highly visible on Highway 71 either in front of the Emerald Hills Golf Course on Highway 71 or in the Grand Avenue Park in Spencer. We'll have those out that last week of August ahead of our traditional August 30th golf date."
Zulk says the event serves as major fundraiser each year for Abben Cancer Center...
"Even though life is a little bit different this year in 2020 due to the covid health emergency, our needs at Abben Cancer Center continue. Of course treatments have remained full force throughout this time while other health services may be needed to, you know, slow down or were closed for awhile. At Abben we've been very busy. And, you know, the needs that the Golf Classic helps sponsor such as transportation for those who need it and some other patient care needs as far as technology remain as important this year as ever."
Those wishing to schedule tee-times for the Abben Cancer Center Golf Classic may do so over the next several weeks by contacting Emerald Hills Golf Course.
