Abben Golf Classic August 27 at Emerald Hills
(Arnolds Park)-The Abben Golf Classic is just over a week away, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The Abben Cancer Center Golf Classic will be held on Sunday, August 27.
Mindy Gress, Executive Director with the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation says there are several ways to participate. "We do still have openings for golf teams, so we're welcoming those, and other ways to participate which include sponsorships, and even people donating items for our silent and live auctions. So there's lots of ways to get involved. We also encourage people to join us for supper, and that would allow people who can't golf or don't want to golf, to still join and help support. We will eat and then we do our silent and live auctions at that time."
She notes that proceeds from the event help regional cancer patients. "Funds from the Golf Classic are used really for a variety of purposes, all of them geared toward our patient experience. So that might be anything from upgraded technology, for travel assistance for patients in need, and even some other memory type things. We've supported the purchase of memory books for patients to use to pass along to their families. So, those are really just a few examples, there's really a variety of purposes that these funds are used for."
The Abben Golf Classic will be held at Emerald Hills Golf Club.
