(Estherville)-A benefit for CAASA is on tap this week, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault, or CAASA will holding a benefit on Thursday evening in Estherville called “A Night of Roses.”
CAASA Advocate Misty Wolff says a number of local women will be performing at the event. "We are doing a performance art show. The artists who are going to be performing might dance or sing, they might play musical instruments or have some spoken word, maybe do some slam poetry or a monologue. It's going to be 10 ladies who are going to be performing and they're each going to do 3 skits. When we start at 7, we're going to do about half of them, and then we're going to have an intermission and talk about the silent auction that we'll have going on at the same time, and then we'll have the rest of the performances and then close it up."
She adds that proceeds will assist CAASA in their work. "We help victims of sexual assault or sexual violence in our communities. I personally work with Emmet and Dickinson County both, but we are available for victims of sexual assault in all 19 counties that we cover."
A Night of Roses will begin at 7 pm Thursday at the VFW in Estherville. A free will offering will be accepted, with a meal available for purchase.
NOTE: Meal will be served prior to the show.
