A Man Who Was Illegally In The U.S. & Was Living In Milford Has Been Sentenced On Federal Charges
(Sioux City)-- A man who was illegally in the United States and was living in Milford has been sentenced on federal charges.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says 33-year-old Emmanuel Nieto-Trenado was sentenced recently to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in September of last year to one count of illegal re-entry and one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
As part of a plea deal, Nieto-Trenado admitted he is a citizen of Mexico and had been previously removed from the U.S in 2013. Court documents say that while an arrest warrant for Nieto-Trenado was being executed on October 18th, 2019, law enforcement found and seized more than 11 ounces of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia, ammunition and two firearms.
In addition to the prison time, Nieto-Trenado must also serve a five-year term of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Milford Police Department, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and its Enforcement and Removal Office.
