A. J. Croce to perform "Croce Plays Croce" at the Pearson Lakes Art Center July 12
It's “Croce plays Croce” at the Pearson Lakes Art Center on Friday night, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
A.J. Croce, the son of Jim Croce, will bring his “Croce plays Croce” show to the Pearson Lakes Art Center on Friday night.
A.J. says he is blends the songs of his famous father with his own music. "People are crying, people are joyful, you know, there's like all of these emotions because I think, people remember where they were when they heard this song. I think there's an element of nostalgia, but it's not like a cover band, in that we cover a lot of ground."
He notes that he's bringing a band full of heavy hitters to the stage, including bassist David Barard. "He was with Dr. John for 30 years, and before that, he was with one of my biggest influences, Allen Toussaint. On drums is a guy named Gary Mallaber. Gary was the drummer on all the late 60s and early 70s Van Morrison records, and then in '69 he joined the Steve Miller Band, and he was the drummer on all of the records and tours up to the mid-80s. My guitar player is a young guy named Garrett Stoner."
The concert will begin at 7:30 Friday night.
