It's a Back to school Bash in Estherville Wednesday evening, KUOO's Becky Thoreson has details:
The Estherville Lincoln Central School District and Iowa Lakes Community College will hold their 5th Annual Back to School Bash on on Wednesday evening.
Bob Leifeld, Vice President of Administration at Iowa Lakes says, the event is open to the entire community. "Welcoming Students and the community, a chance to meet, not only our students to meet their teachers and staff, who sometimes you don't see because they're behind the scenes, but then also for the community to show their support of how much we value education and our young adults and our students."
He notes that a variety of activities are on tap. "There's a free meal. It's open to anybody and everyone who wants to join in, not just students and parents and educators. Everyone in the community, and around the communities are more than welcome to join in. There's a lot of activities around. The National Guard is going to be bringing their climbing wall, the Public Library is doing a STEM activity to highlight things you can do with science, technology, engineering and math. A number of the athletic groups' sports activities. They're having chipping for the golf enthusiasts. Basketball, those scrimmages will be going on and competitions. Root Beer Float Stand, we'll have popcorn, great activities. Then, everyone is welcome to free admission for the volleyball game. Iowa Lakes taking on Iowa Central, first serve is at 7 o'clock."
The event will be held on the Estherville Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.
