The 20th Annual Estherville Sweet Corn Days will feature 4 days of festivities August 3-6.
Estherville Chamber Executive Director Lexie Ruter says a couple of new events have been added. "It is our first Sweet corn Days organized Golf Tournament. So it's on Friday, a shotgun start, it's a 4 person best shot, and there's a $10,000 hold-in-one prize. Another new event we have are Corn Dog Races. So we are racing dachshunds, little wiener dogs, and everyone can bring out their wiener dog and we'll be doing a 50 foot race, and dogs will get treats for winning, there's a costume contest, owners get prizes too and it should really fun."
She adds that Sweet Corn Days kick off Thursday with the Burning of the Cobs, Friday is family day, with the big parade on Saturday. "We've got our Parade at 10:30, which is one of the biggest parades in the area. We've got food vendors all day. We give out free sweet corn after the parade. We've got a car show, and then at 3 o'clock we'll do the Duck Dive. We'll pluck a duck and you can win $500, and the next 2 ducks plucked win $100 each. We finish our night off with a Youth Dance from 8-11, and a street dance with a live band for the adults from 9 pm to 1 am."
Sweet Corn Days wrap up with relaxation day on Sunday, including a free swim and river float.
