(Superior)-The Iowa Great Lakes Area Chapter of 100+ Women Who Care will holds its final quarterly meeting of the year on Friday evening at the Softail Saloon in Superior.

KUOO's Becky Thoreson has the story:

100+ Women Who Care story

The 100+ Women Who Care group will hold its quarterly meeting on Friday evening at the Softail Saloon.

Board Member Shawna Ditsworth explains the concept.

"We are inviting all women who live and/or work in Palo Alto, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet or Buena Vista Counties.  You are welcome to come and observe and see what we do, and if you want to become a member, we're happy to do that, too.  Our meeting that night is from 6:30 until 8 pm, and basically how it works is, our Members are eligible to nominate a local charity that the Members will essentially vote on that night.  So, we select 3 charities at random that night, and then we tell a little about each charity, and then the members can vote.  The charity receiving the most votes will receive our donation that evening."

She notes that all donations go directly to the charity of choice.

"We're geared toward women who have busy lives, we're all busy, and this a 90 minute meeting and we raise a lot of money in a short period of time.  100% of the donations go towards the charity."
