At this time because of the amount of announcements we are getting, we are limiting this page to government entities, schools, non-profits, and customers of our family of stations.   • Based on the recommendation of Dickinson County Public Health officials, all city parks in the city of Spirit Lake are closed until further notice.
  • The City of Milford, in accordance with guidelines from the CDC, Governor and Iowa Dept. of Public Health, has closed all playgrounds within our city parks.  As a reminder social gatherings are to be 10 people or less and please practice social distancing.
  • By proclamation of the Governor, schools in Iowa are now closed through April 30th. 
  • Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer has cancelled ALL activities through April 30th.  Drive in or Worship online.  Trinity Day Care remains open at this time.
  • The city of Spencer, in accordance with guidelines from the CDC, Governor and Iowa Dept. of Public Health, has closed the following ares to the public until further notice: Leach Park Campground, all park shelters, permanent restrooms, playgrounds and play equipment, skate park, basketball courts and tennis courts. Park open spaces and trails remain open as of now, but users should practice social distancing and good personal hygiene.
  • The city of Estherville's Parks and Recreation Board has canceled the annual Easter Egg Hunt. All city parks in Estherville are also currently closed to protect the health and safety of the community. The walking trails, however, are exempt from the order, as are school lunch distribution sites. Playground equipment should not be used until further notice.
  • The Spirit Lake Fire Department’s annual pancake feed normally held in April has been postponed until further notice.

  • The Spirit Lake Public Library is now offering curbside pickup of library materials. Patrons may reserve items through the catalog or by contacting the library. Library staff will pull the items and make them available on book carts in the foyer. Wait for your notification before coming to pick up items! Pickup hours will be 10-4 on Mondays & Wednesdays, 10-6 on Tuesdays & Thursdays. There are also carts with paperbacks, discarded magazines, & newspapers. Please limit yourself to one newspaper per day and 5-6 magazines or paperbacks.

  • In an effort to protect their patients and employees, Lewis Family Drug in Spirit Lake is open for drive through and curbside services only. They will continue to accommodate your non-prescription needs with these services as well. Please consider calling in your orders and payment method 48 hours prior to visiting the store to help expedite the process. Their free mail out and delivery services are also available. 

  • The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Estherville is suspending church services. While physical church services may be cancelled, the pastor is available by phone at any time.  An abbreviated service will be available each Sunday at 10:30 am via Facebook.  Their page is First Christian Church Estherville.

  • The 2020 Bedell Family YMCA Healthy Kids Day scheduled for Saturday, April 4, at the Y is cancelled due to Governor Reynolds’ mandate of closing all fitness centers, health clubs, health spas, gyms, and aquatic centers to limit the spread of COVID-19. The YMCA will look to hold an event later in the spring or early summer similar to Healthy Kids Day which will also be free to members and the public. More information to come as the situation progresses. 

  • The Lake Park Public Library will be closed until further notice. eBooks and eAudiobooks are available on their website www.lakeparkpubliclibrary.com
  • Clay County Upper Des Moines has altered hours until further notice. Food distribution will be on Mondays ONLY from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. For other assistance, please call 712-262-7409 and leave a message.
  • Palo Alto County Health System is now at LEVEL 4 visitor restrictions. West Bend and Graettinger Clinics will NOT see patients with respiratory symptoms. All respiratory patients will be seen at the Emmetsburg Clinic. No walk- in patients will be seen at any of the family practice clinics- all patients must call ahead first.   • The Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association has cancel The Rock The Roof Dance Party which was scheduled for Thursday, April 16.  see info at iowarocknroll.com

  • The Milford City Clerk's office is closed to the public until further notice. Those who need to conduct business at the City Clerk's office need to call 338-2741 or use the drive-up window as city staff will be present to answer calls/emails. Rentals of the Community Center and old city hall are discontinued until further notice. For questions related to building permits please go to www.milford.ia.us or call Zoning Administrator Don Brinkley at 712-330-2372. To contact the Milford Police Department for a non-emergency call the Dickinson County Communications Center at 712-336-2525. In the event of an emergency call 911.
  • Northwest Bank – Open for business with limited lobby access.  Call for an appointment 1-800-678-4105.  Drive-up service remains open and available during regularly scheduled hours. Visit www.Bank-Northwest.com for the latest information and for details on how to access online and mobile banking services.

  • The Lakes Area Senior Center located in Spirit Lake is closed. They do have "to go" meals for seniors that can be picked up.  Please call 712-336-5247, and they will return your call, to see if you qualify for this service.
  • The lobby at Iowa Lakes Regional Water is closed to the public until further notice. You can still reach them at 712-262-8847. If you require an appointment, please contact the office ahead of time. Payments can be made by mailing a check, online payment through epay, the drop box located in the front door of the office, or by signing up for ACH. They remind members the water is SAFE to drink.
  • Emmet & Dickinson County FSA and NRCS offices are open, but taking customers by appointment only. Please call Dickinson office at 712-336-3782 or Emmet at 712-362-7221 to schedule an appointment.

  • Laurens-Marathon CSD is providing Grab & Go meals for our students (18 yrs & under) Monday-Friday from 11:30-12:30 at two sites (Laurens front entry & Marathon white van/Community Center). The students must be present to receive. NO ADULT MEALS!
  • Bible Study Fellowship at CrossWinds Church in Spirit Lake: moved to online meetings until further notice. Contact your group leader or bsfinternational.org for more information.

  • Spencer Schools- Breakfast & Lunch Options for Children: The Spencer Community School District is offering breakfast and lunch while our schools are closed over the next few weeks starting Thursday, March 19. “Grab and Go” cold breakfast and lunch will be provided for all children ages 18 and under. Meals will be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. until further notice. Children will pick up both breakfast and lunch at this time. Meals will be available to be picked up at the following locations: Johnson Elementary (near the main entrance), Fairview Elementary (near the main entrance), Lincoln Elementary (near the main entrance), Spencer High School (entrance #10 -Northwest side of the building).

  • Spenser's Underground Ministries Thursday's and Saturday open night will be closed until further notice. If you are in need of someone to talk to, please feel free to contact any of the board members.
  • Spirit Lake United Methodist Church: 10:30 Sunday worship will be livestreamed with worship leaders only present in the building. 
  • Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake will be having Live-Streamed Worship only on www.lcmslakes.org.  All other activities, classes and meetings are canceled until further notice.

  • Good News Community Church Food Pantry: until further notice, food pantry guests will be asked to stay in their vehicles, and food pantry staff will deliver prepared bags/boxes of food to the vehicles

  • EXIT Realty Midwest would like their clients and the public to know that the offices will remain open by appointment only during this time of uncertainty.  Although more changes may be needed in the coming days and weeks, for now the offices will be open with minimal staffing.

  • Arnolds Park City Hall is closed to the public until further notice.  Services continue as usual.  Please contact City Hall at (712) 332-2341 or aphall@arnoldsparkcity.com concerning any matters that can be handled over the telephone or via email as City staff will be present to answer calls and emails.  The Arnolds Park Library is also closed and can be reached at (712) 332-2033.  For a non-emergency, please contact the Arnolds Park Police Department at (712) 332-2227 and an officer will return your call.  In case of an emergency, call 911. Citizens are asked to drop off payments for utility bills in the book drop located outside just to the south of the main doors at City Hall, mail their payments, or pay their bills online at www.arnoldsparkcity.com.    

  • The Pearson Lakes Art Center is closed until further notice. All classes are also cancelled until further notice.

  • Community Table is cancelled for April.
  • All daily and weekend Masses and all activities at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Milford, have been suspended until at least May 12. The Parish Office will be open Monday thru Friday 8 to 12 noon. Please call before you come. 

  • Bowling leagues at Corner Lanes in Spirit Lake are suspended until further notice.

  • Due to the COVID-19 the City of Milford is asking those who need to conduct business at the City Clerk's office to first please call 338-2741 or use the drive-up window.  Rentals of the Community Center and Old City Hall will be discontinued effective immediately until further notice.  If you have questions related to building permits, please see our website at www.milford.ia.us or call Zoning Administrator Don Brinkley at 712-330-2372.

  • "The Spirit Lake Public Library is closed until further notice. The community room will not be available for group meetings. Any materials you have checked out will automatically renew during this period. Remember that all of our online resources will be available! Check it out online at slpublib.com"

  • The Milford Memorial Library is closed until further notice.We want to remind everyone that our online services (eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming video, databases, etc.) are available 24-7. Our Wi-Fi is also available 24-7. Leadership will continue to re-assess when it might be safe to open again. Contact MML via email at info@milford.lib.ia.us. 
     
  • In the continued focus of social distancing to protect patients and hospital staff, Spencer Hospital has suspended valet services. If patients need assistance getting from the parking lot into the facility, they should stop under the main entrance canopy and ask for wheelchair services from their parked car into the facility. Spencer Hospital’s free weekly blood pressure clinic is also suspended, along with cardiopulmonary rehab services, athletic enhancement, and volunteer services.

  • The Iowa Rock 'n Roll Museum in Arnolds Park is closed.  Please visit iowarocknroll.com for details.

  • The Spencer YMCA is closed with the EXCEPTION of childcare/kids club. 

  • Spirit of Harmony Chorus has cancelled rehearsals for the month of March, and will begin regular rehearsals on Monday, April 6.

  • Boji Bridge Duplicate Bridge is cancelled indefinitely.

  • Due to COVID-19 the Spencer area churches have suspended the Community Lenten Lunch & Worship gatherings at Hope Church for the balance of the Lenten Season.
     
  • Spirit Lake schools are closed indefinitely. Students in grades 7-12 and staff are allowed to use their school issued devices at home during the closure. The ENTIRE school district campus (all buildings and facilities) will be closed to EVERYONE until further notice except for essential personnel at the discretion of the Superintendent. No activities of any kind will be allowed while closed. The Spirit Lake Community School District will provide qualified free and/or reduced students breakfast and lunch via a grab and go process. Pickups can be made Monday through Friday from 8:00 until 9:15 am at the food service loading dock on the south side of the elementary/middle school building.   • With recent federal and state informational releases and updates coming frequently regarding the coronavirus, the City of Spirit Lake will be making a couple of minor adjustments in the short term out of caution for the public.  If individuals have utility bills and normally pay in person at City Hall, please use the drop box located inside the front entry doors on Hill Avenue.  For other routine matters like necessary tags for disposal of household items and any issues related to building permits, please call ahead to City Hall so arrangements can be made.  City Hall is not closed, and we will still be conducting City business, but with these changes for now.  City services related to law enforcement, water distribution, trash pickup and recycling will continue as usual and there are no issues with providing City services. Please keep in touch with information from the Iowa Department of Public Health and the CDC and take personal precautions that continue to be well publicized."

  • All YMCA of the Okoboji's facilities will be closed and all programming and events are temporarily suspended. This includes all services and programs provided at the Okoboji and Spirit Lake School Districts. Alternative ways are being explored to meet community needs during this time, in partnership with health officials and other community leaders.
