Okoboji Basketball Travels To Central Lyon
The Okoboji Pioneers picked up a big 65-54 road win on Friday night over Central Lyon. The first quarter was back and forth with the host Lions taking a 10-8 lead into the second frame. Central Lyon would open the lead to 20-12 before Okoboji would end the half on a 10-6 run to close within 26-22 at halftime. The Pioneers would continue to play well in the third quarter, opening up a 42-36 lead before the Lions would answer with a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to 44-43 entering the fourth quarter. Okoboji took control of the game in the final stanza with a 13-2 run and would never lead by fewer than 10. The Pioneers hit five second half three-pointers with freshman Kallyn Stumbo hitting three of them. Stumbo led Okoboji with 20 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists; fellow freshman Magan Christopherson added 15 points and played tremendous defense with 6 steals, junior Grace Wintz added 10 points with 7 rebounds and freshman Camry Jones had 10 rebounds to go along with 9 points. Junior Makayla Witt led Central Lyon with 17 points. The Pioneers improve to 6-4 on the season, 4-4 in the Siouxland Conference and have now won five of six games. Okoboji will jump right back into action on Saturday when they host MOC-FV at 1:15PM on Q 102
