Okoboji Basketball Goes Into Holiday Break With A Win
Okoboji pulled out a 65-60 win at Sibely-Ocheyedan on Tuesday night. The Generals got off to a quick start and took a 15-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Pioneers would respond in the second quarter and take a 31-27 lead into halftime. The third quarter continued to be tight as S-O would take a 41-40 lead before Okoboji would score the last four points of the quarter to take a 44-41 lead into the final stanza. The Pioneers would stretch the lead to 50-43 but the Generals would not go away, cutting the lead to 63-60 before junior Grace Wintz would ice the game with two clutch free throws with :05 left. Okoboji was led by freshman Kallyn Stumbo, who notched another double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 7 assists and 3 steals; fellow freshman Camry Jones added 13 points with 8 rebounds, Wintz added 13 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists while Magan Christopherson added 10 points. Sibley-Ocheyedan was led by senior Britta Harberts’ 19 points. Okoboji improves to 4-4 on the season and will be off for Christmas Break before coming back to play at George-Little Rock on January 3rd.
Bryce Peter scores with 2.4 seconds left for the 1 point win. Peter had 22 points. Kip Hurd had 29 points to lead Okoboji in scoring. Pioneers get their first win of the season right before the holiday break and are now 1-6. They return to action January 3rd against G-LR on Q 102.
