Boys Game

Clay Central-Everly had an answer for every Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn run and the Mavericks took away a 59-51 win on Tuesday night in Everly.  CCE led 18-10 after one quarter.  A better second quarter by the Hawks saw the lead diminish and the Mavericks led 25-22 at halftime.  CCE extended the lead to 35-30 after three.  In the fourth, the Mavs got ahead by as much as nine, but HMS wouldn’t go away quietly.  The Hawks cut the lead to three with less than a minute to go but late free throws sealed the win for CCE.  Pete Trierweiler led the Mavericks with 17 points and seven steals.  Logan Heissel added 13 for CCE, who improves to 2-5 entering the holiday break.  Jake Van Dyke hit four treys in route to a 17 point performance for HMS.  Hunter Orthmann had 13 points for the Hawks, who are 0-3.
